My only question is, does any game come out on time anymore? Especially original titles.
As far as comparing these games, it seems to me the gameplay mechanics and the "power-palette" as the article put it (quite catchy) are different enough to separate these titles. Infamous has you controlling electricity in various ways, Prototype has the whole "infected with a alien virus to create super powers" thing going on, and Bionic Commando, of course, has the arm...
I don't think I would want them to turn Infamous into a straight out comic book style super hero/super villain type of game. I think that would take away from the game making it some what "hokey". I also disagree that either company is wasting their time. In my opinion, the more the merrier! Let me put it this way, if every company looked around at its peers and said, "Oh, crap! They started making a futuristic FPS before us? Oh well, let's scrap the one we had in the works!&qu...
Made for an interesting read and a little insight into his thinking on the whole thing. Bubbles!
a picture. But where can I buy one?
I think as time goes on and other developers see what can be done, you will see games that not only match, but surpass MGS4 in production values. Believe me, this is one amazing game, but it certainly is not the pinnacle of gaming excellence. As far as emotion and cinematic feel, Heavy Rain is showing some promise (if they would just show some more!) and, as always, the next Final Fantasy is sure to get the emotions up.
In its genre, yes, it will be very hard to beat. I mean, ...
I can't see why they would want to stop or even slow down in making them. Yes, I think the DS version is a little odd and I certainly wouldn't buy it, but as long as I get a good list of new songs to play with each one, I will continue to buy them. In fact I hope they keep putting out new GH games every 6 months, that way I don't get too bored with the set list on one game before the next one is in my hands. That's the only reason I stopped playing GHIII, I got bored with the songs after play...
And on top of that, after watching the production videos and interviews with the creators, I think they are putting a magnificent effort to make it genuinely scary. Yes, you never know, they may screw it up. It can really happen with any new production, but as it stands, it looks like a keeper. As always, I say watch for the reviews and any video clips and then make up your own mind. I will go out on a limb and say it will pull in solid 8/10s when it comes out.
GTA4 is fun, but not deserving of a 10; a solid 8 or maybe a 9. GTA4 is the same old formula that they have always used. MGS4 is just plain epic.
and they have Afrika with a release date in December. Glad to see that it should get released here in the US, but it will get stomped by the holiday rush. Bad time to release for a niche title.
I'm the same way. In fact I'm very picky about the stories portrayed in my games. I like more arcadey racers so gt5 isn't really my thing either. It is just that these games are considered in the top of their respective genres across all systems. I just wondered from the comment what genre or play style ebhe was interested in if not these top-end games. I agree and of course not all games are created equal, but I find it surprising that anyone could eliminate every game on that list as "...
First, "not a proper game"? Are you kidding! From what I've seen, this game is truly impressive! As long as there is enough content to keep you playing for a while, it is a proper game.
I didn't hear about this being a Japan only release. Is it a no go for US or Europe or who? Or is it just a delayed release for translation purposes. I find it hard to believe they would spend 4 or 5 years on this game and then not release it worldwide. I was really looking forward to ...
I'm not being sarcastic or belligerent here, but, what kind of game do you play? That list has FPS (Resistance), role-playing (FFXIII), racing (GT5), adventure (Uncharted) and tactical military action (MGS). That pretty much covers the field!
And, btw, Uncharted is much better than Tomb Raider. I never liked TR (never played through any of them but owed 3), but Uncharted was awesome! More of an interactive "Romancing the Stone" than TR. Play it if you get a chance.
Good idea releasing Fallout 3 before the huge holiday rush gets into full swing. But there are so many titles coming this year! Dead Space, Prototype, Africa, Silent Hill, MGS4 (two days!!!), and on and on....
I made a list of games that are coming out this year that I want or just to keep my eye on, and came up with 12 definite and 4 maybe. Where am I going to find the time to play so many top tier games? Guess I'll just have to quit my job and leave my wife. Hey, we all have ...
it would take too long initially. The between chapter installs are hidden. They take place during the cutscenes between the chapters so you won't even know it's happening. That way you only wait about eight minutes before you can start playing and the rest happen in game. Kind of like the loading scenes in The Darkness. It gives you something to watch while the machine does its business. I'm not sure, but I think there is some sort of scene or something in the first install as well, so don't ...
Movies, books, music and even news programs and they all conclude the same thing; exposure to violent material desensitizes the subject to violent images. It is a proven fact. If you surround yourself with violence, virtual or otherwise, you are less likely to be disturbed by it. That being said, why are these groups now focusing on video games? Answer - easy target.
To the average individual, video games are still a medium for child entertainment. But, on the bright side, time...
My wife is heading out of town to visit her son for a week starting on the 11th! Talk about timing!!!
First install of about 8 minutes then a couple minutes between each chapter.
I get your point and agree that the Wii is kicking everyone's butt in the console war but...uh...you should consider getting yourself some help!
Although it takes from well established genres and games (how many games don't these days?), this game looks unique enough to gather quite a bit of attention and acclaim. It is looking very solid and genuinely scary. I love the comment about things rushing by in your peripheral vision. I don't know why more horror games don't use the old "what was that!?! Where'd it go!?!" mechanic (movies have used this for ages to add tension - Aliens anyone?).
I'm really looking fo...
3 we've seen to death? Have you played any of them? Both Motostorm 2 and Resistance 2 have hardly been played out and look to expand the world they created in the first games (part 2 in the video game world is hardly over doing it). LBP is a brand new production, so how can you be sick of it pre-release!?! And Bioshock was 2007 GOTY! Some of us only own one system and are very excited to get our hands on this killer title. Not to mention the other dozen games we know about and the dozen games...
